Happy 4th

Happy 4th! We decided that it was one day where we could be free to be as American as possible, rather than trying to fit in with the Czechs. There were plans to do hit up T.G.I. Friday's for dinner, but after discovering that burgers and burritos were between 15-25 dollars, we decided to pass that up and head for the closest overly-American location: McDonald's. I'm proud to say it was the first time I've been since being here. Afterward we headed to Old Town Square to watch the Germany-Italy game on the big screen they have set up there. We were rooting for Germany - needless to say the outcome was quite depressing. All that matters to me now is that France beats Italy on Sunday. We took a nice stroll up Petrin Hill yesterday, an area near the castle with a network of paths, gardens, and a mock Eiffel Tower that you can climb at the top (we didn't climb the tower because we got there too late). Trying to get around to all the places on my checklist, only two weeks left!

Strolling with Mindy on the 4th

McDonald's...God bless America

A monument at Petrin Hill to the victims of Communism. The steps and figures are actually leaning toward you, kind of freaky.

Resting at the top! Mindy, Me, Jenny, Kate (Lewis and Clark)

Happy 4th back at you, Anna. As you know we celebrated in fine style ringing in your sister's 15th birthday-with everyone on the nation setting off fireworks for her! Tell us more about Petrin sometime. There is a picture in the ones you sent home, of a metal sculpture of a bunch of people-I'm guessing it was at the place that was on the way to Auschwitz(sp). That was really stiking, too. Get every experience out of the next 2 weeks that you can, punkin!
